Welcome to A Chevy for Six, Please.
Six years ago we Kempners took the train from Leeds to China. It was a brilliant trip and we spent many a happy hour writing in our respective journals. We then spent many a happy hour reading each others’ journals or listening to others read out aloud from their own or someone else’s journal. And why not? No telly, no computers, no mobile devices of any sort to otherwise distract.
But times change, years pass, technology progresses and here we are on another Big Trip. Some of us are still wedded to paper and reed pen. Others have overdeveloped opposable thumbs from rampant Blackberry messaging. But all at some point will be recording their observations in some form of manner, so I said, I said “Let’s do a group blog.”
